History
The Blue Anchor was founded by Bill and Anna Johnson and started as a roadside motor lodge and restaurant in 1948. In 1963, the restaurant was torn down, leaving the three cabins to be rented out seasonally.
In 1994, the cabins were all completely renovated with constant care and maintenance by the Johnson family.
This year, the Blue Anchor will be celebrating its 75th year in business. We will be working in loving memory of our mother, grandmother, and community friend, Anna Johnson. She was laid to rest in the Fall of 2009 and is now watching over the beautiful Willoughby Lake, the place which she loved the most. After 60 years of being active in the business, it will be hard to fill her shoes, however her son Kimball, daughter-in-law Penny, and third generation granddaughter, Chelsea, and her husband, Dan, will work hard to keep the hospitality alive.
Please, come relax and enjoy yourself with the endless activities this beautiful lake has to offer. We hope you will choose the BLUE ANCHOR CABINS for your next stay at Willoughby Lake!
